I’m a pretty techy girl and have all types of technology in my home but when I heard about Dex and the beneficial learning my children could use with this product I Just had to get it for them no matter what. I speak 3 languages and I know how much of a big deal it can be to be able to use those languages in the real world so I wanted my children to be able to use something fun and easy to learn product in their everyday life and this definitely does it all for me. My children definitely love using this and I love that I can also take it to go anywhere. It’s one of the best products you can get for your kids that will definitely change your life. Honestly don’t have 0 negative things to say and I’m happy it’s like that!
This toy really is the best Arabic language toy on the market. We set it to Egyptian Arabic and occasionally it provides the MSA word or pronunciation instead of Egyptian, but overall, we are super happy with the purchase. My 3 year old has picked up so many new words in the 2 weeks he's had the toy.
We have shown it to our friends and family and they are also planning to purchase for their little ones now.
The design is simple and easy to navigate. My child likes doing the stories that the camera creates, but also has fun going on walks and using the camera to learn new words.
I love this think I just don’t like how much the monthly price is if you chose to get one and the lanyard is way to long maybe a wristlet would be better.
Purchased this as it looks like an interesting tool to teach languages. While it’s catered for kids, it can used for the entire family for everyone to learn together.
Pros:
1. Easy to use
2. Kid friendly design
Opportunities:
1. Core features are free but others are behind a paywall even after purchasing an expensive device
2. Certain features are limited to touch screen interaction, others are for the physical buttons. There is no explanation for when to use either. It would be ideal if everything can be accessed by both touch and physical components.
3. Concerned about durability. While the camera design ensures the camera and screen do not rest on a flat surface, kids do not care to carefully place the device on a flat surface so the camera and screen can easily contact toys, angled surfaces, anything else to break the glass.
Overall it’s a good generation 1 design but lacking some features and improvements for the price of the device.
